Today we celebrated Derek & Blake's 5th birthday. It was a super fun day from beginning to end. They are such amazing little boys and I love each of their fun and unique personalities. It took some convincing this morning with Blake to get him to believe he was 5 even before his party started. And Derek was very concerned about the last minute preparations and whether the house would be clean enough for his friends to go through or whether we would have to direct traffic straight to the back yard as he had seen at a party they day before. They had so much fun playing with so many friends at their pirate water party- between friends from preschool, friends from our old neighborhood and some new friends from this neighborhood their initial list of people to invite looked more like the size of a football team than a 5-year-old birthday party. I don't know what it says about their future, but out of the 14 total kids there were only 4 boys (including Derek & Blake). Should I be scared?? Derek especially says he likes girls best. Blake is already enjoying chasing them.
Although they have had as rough a year as anyone in our family, they have been amazing! Being Derek & Blake's mom is one of the most fun, rewarding, humorous, joyful and fun-filled things I have ever done. Thanks for putting up with me boys! I love being your mom!
