Derek & Blake's Unbirthday

Today was Derek and Blake's Unbirthday at preschool. They were so excited and I was supposed to go in and thell their classmates about them and show some pictures and all that jazz. Brent had arranged to sit in the van with the babies, but when we got there Blake and Derek wanted to show thier brother and sister more than anything else. They desperately wanted to bring them in and even though I had picutres, it just wasn't going to be enough. So we took them in and all the kids were pretty excited, but one of their classmates turned to Derek and said why does your brother have glasses. Derek looked at him, a little confused, and said "So he can see things better, especially things far away," with a tone that said it was a pretty silly question! Way to go Derek!

Chopped My Hair

I cut off all my hair last week and am donating it to Locks of Love. I am getting used to it, but it is taking some time! I have NEVER had it so short, but it is certainly harder for the babies to get ahold of now and it is a much needed change.

What's Been Going On - Part II

Things have been busy and so we haven't posted in a while, but there is so much to say. Mother's Day was great. Blake and Derek gave me a brush and a mirror that they picked out themselves :D It was also the first day that the whole Fox clan has ventured to church. It was wonderful to be able to be there together as a family. It was the best Mother's Day present! The babies were great. Brandon took his bottle in the first 30 minutes or so and then slept the whole time. Katelyn got a little rambunctious in Relief Society (the women's meeting), but I think it was mainly because she was sitting at the back of a room full of women and they weren't all looking at her. She was so loud just letting out these squeals and yells.

We've been venturing out a lot more and it sure does feel good to be able to do things. We attract a lot of attention wherever we go. We have the twins thing, then with Brandon's glasses and if he is asleep we have his oxygen too. What a spectacle!

We saw the pediatric surgeon Thursday afternoon. We agreed to do his surgery later this summer. Hopefully he will be off oxygen and will just be even bigger and stronger. He said these inguinal hernias just don't go away. They can be mistaken for other things, but he looked back in his notes and he saw Brandon's with his own eyes, so he definitely has at least one. We will be calling this week to get him on the schedule.

Just a cold

The good news is that Brandon just had a common cold. Both Brandon and Katelyn are getting much better. They are both still small. Katelyn is particularly petite but very cute and full of energy.

Cancelled Again

Once again Brandon is sick and we had to cancel his surgery. Both Katelyn and Brandon have been getting sick for a while now. We were worried about him being sick again for his surgery but we had hoped that he would improve. Instead, he got much worse. Yesterday afternoon, not only was he coughing a lot but he was wheezing and his oxygen needs where way up. Amy called the pediatrician and he wanted to see Brandon right away. They gave him some medication that seemed to help. The doctor wrote a prescription and ordered a nebulizer for us. He also sent Amy down to the hospital to have a couple of tests done. Brandon had a chest x-ray that seemed good. They assume that his problem is asthma. This shouldn’t come as a surprise. We know he has week lungs and Blake has a little asthma. We are still waiting for one more test that should come back sometime today that should tell us if his sickness is something to really worry about or not.

By the time Amy and Brandon got home it was really late. We ate a late dinner and got the kids ready for bed. By the time we were ready to run the pharmacy and fill Brandon’s prescription the only place open was the 24hr. pharmacy across town. He was doing fine and it wasn’t too long ago that he received a good dose at the Doctor’s office so we decided to wait until morning. That turned out to be an unwise decision. About 4:30 this morning I was off to the pharmacy. Needless to say we are both pretty tired this morning.

They are still very sick but both babies seem to be breathing much better this morning. Katelyn went to the dermatologist today and got another shot on her lip. The dermatologist is slowly raising the dosage each time and watching to see how her lip reacts. Hopefully we will get even better results this time.

Surgery Update & Prayer Request

So Brandon is still getting over his cold, but we talked to the OR today and they said without fever and at the end of a cold they might go ahead and that we'll just need to come in for surgery (we check in at 10:15 am on Monday) and they will make the final determination during his pre-op check. So this is a mother's plea for prayer - please pray that he will be well enough for surgery and a speedy recovery if he still needs it (yes we are still holding out a small hope for another miracle - that he won't need this surgery at all). We know that the power of prayer is real and we have seen first hand the results of so many answered prayers. So please pray for our little Brandon one more time. We want this surgery and another hospital visit behind us, but not at the risk of him having post-op trouble. Thank you to all of you who care about our family and pray for us. We appreciate it more than words can say.
